Dual coils wiring

What is the most used wiring for dual coils : Parallel or Series ?

That depends on the bass.. A basic Jazz Bass has the two coils (each pickup a single coil) wired in parallel while a P Bass has the two coils wired in series. Series gives you more output with more attenuation of high freqs, while parallel gives you a lower output with more high freq content. Many basses with upgraded electronics allow you to switch between series and parallel - a great mod as it gives you two good yet very different sounds out of the same pickup for little money and you can even use a push-pull pot if you don't want to add a switch hole.. Most dual coil pickups i.e. humbuckers I have seen are installed wired in series if they don't have the switching option - that's certainly true for guitar and I haven't encountered too many basses with humbuckers that don't have series-parallel switches.. New dual coil pickups usually have 4 wires so you can wire it however you like. Hope that helps!

wire a switch...you won't regret it. I have two three-way switches so each coil can be series HB/outer SC/parallel HB. the tonal variations I have are a bit much at first, but when you start getting the sounds in your head, you know what you need.

Most dual coil pickups i.e. humbuckers I have seen are installed wired in series if they don't have the switching option

MM 'buckers seem to be mostly wired in parallel.
