Dunlop MM strings and fret wear?

I thought his set was from DR, then again I pay about no attention to that. On a bright active Bass their regular nickels have been working well.
The Marcus Miller Dunlop Super Brights have only been out since Jan 2015, if memory serves. I wouldn't think they've had enough history to know if they are fret-eaters yet or not. I will say they are rough on the fingers so one would assume they will be hard on frets. Great sounding string, though.
Even the most notorious fret eaters like roto steels and cobalts only eat frets if the player has a gorilla grip on the neck. Either that or defective fret wire.

IMO if you are worried about fretwear you're not really a SS type of guy. I focus on my tone and if after a few years I need a fret job, I'll get a fretjob. (hint save some of your gig money for maintenenace) Tone comes first for me and the bass is just a tool. It's to be played not babied. of course I'm not into abusing my gear but SS strings are where some of my tone is. Nickels just don't do it for me. I do however like a brand new set of EB super slinky's but they only last me about two gigs then they turn into punchy figerstyle strings and you can forget slapping unless you like thud LOL!!!
I've had a set of their Stainless Steel Superbrights on my Fender Jaguar, for several months (I play this bass about once or twice per month). I have basically only ever puts stainless steel strings, on this bass. No noticeable fretwear. and I only used rotos, for a couple of years.
Due to the balanced tension and flexibility, these are easier to play than a lot of steels. They also are not quite as rough, as some others, when new. and after a bit of time, feel smooth and easy for slides and fast fretting. The MM strings are, I believe, a little higher tension. But the overall feel and playability, should be very similar. The tone is of course, different.
If you are interested in the MM sound, i would not hesitate to get these strings. The balanced tension will make your bass setup better and you will play better. Your frets will love you.
