I'm a big fan of nickel-on-steel strings, my favourites being both Dunlop (old black package ones) and D'Addario EXL's. I've always been marginally in favour of Dunlop's because of the fuller mid-heavy tone, but recently I've noticed a bit of a slump in their quality. They seem rougher, I even noticed the wrap wire endings sticking out. D'Addarios just seem to be made with much more quality, although I always felt they're a bit more mid-scooped. What's your recent experience with those two brands?
