I've been trying to get my cover band to do this one. The singer thinks it won't go over. Anybody out there cover this one? And how did it go over? We're a 7 piece funky, R&B, dance band.
  2. I've covered it, in my original alt-rock trio, as a one-off to "wake up" a indifferent crowd, and it went over like mad.

In your situation, with your group capability, it would be a no-brainer. Everyone loves that song.
  3. it is a great tune and john taylor rocks...so there!
  4. Absolutely killer bass line. Do it.

I once had impure thoughts. Oh, and I pluck my ear hair.
My current band actually entertained the idea of covering this. In fact, we learned it and nailed it down pretty well. The bass line does sound good and is easy as hell.

After several times of practicing it, we looked at each other and collectively said "naaaahhhhH!!!!".

It depends on the style of the other music you play and the audience you are playing to. It just wasn't going to work for our context.

We used to do the Goldfinger version of it. Almost always went over big.

I think it would go over. Right now, the 30 - 35 year old demographic is in full swing. I say, "Go for it".
