Duty fees and import taxes?

I am in Missouri USA and am thinking of purchasing an instrument from a dealer in Europe. I'm wondering how much import tax and duty fees I should expect to have to pay on a $2K instrument delivered by UPS?

I am guessing 1.5% of the sale amount less the $1000 personal exemption.

The links below should get you started + you should find help in your Congressman's office or in the Customs office in St Louis, Chicago or KC Airports. The most important information will be how to describe the instrument on a Customs form. Including the words 'for personal use' seems to be part of the key. Good luck.
