Double Bass Ear Box -- Glad I gave it a second chance.

Here’s my dilemma: Last night, I resumed rehearsing with my longtime band (thanks, CDC!) and naturally the guitarist was too loud, making it necessary for me to deploy protective earwear. It worked in keeping my ears from getting blown out, but it of course muffles the overall sound of the band and my bass in particular. Since I’m typically sitting on my amp for rehearsal, would an Ear Box help make my bass more audible when I’m wearing earplugs, or should I look at a different solution?

Different solution: headphones.

Different solution: headphones.
That’s true. I wonder if my amp would allow me to use headphones while keeping the external speaker live. The trouble is that the headphones would be receiving just the sound of my bass and not the drums, guitar, sax, or voice.

EDIT: I happen to own the Phil Jones BigHead Pro HA-2, which has a headphone output as well as a Line Out. I could connect the Line Out to my amp and wear the headphones. The rest of the band would be a bit muffled, but maybe not so much as with the earplugs.

I thought about using an EarBox, but frankly my MAS 1/8's are crystal clear all over the stage without a hind of harshness. So, in my particular case, it would just be something else to

carry to the gig. If I actually had any gigs. It's pretty quiet here in ye olde St. Louis as of yet.

What’s that? Do you have an image and/or a link?

MAS stands for Mike Arnopol Soundworks. Mike is a custom builder/bassist of bass cabinets located in Chicago, Illinois. Here are some pictures of his MAS 1/8 v2 (he's at version 3 or 4 now)

Stands for studio monitor speakers typically have a plate on top. Unfortunately they also typically have a non-collapsible and rather heavy bottom foot.
You might either find a plate with a FOH speaker stand socket somewhere or mount one to a plate yourself.
You might want to add a strap too to fix the amp to the plate.
