For sale Early Kay C-1

This instrument has a maple top veneer rather than spruce and a non-Kay neck. The body could be a C-1 from the maple-top period ('48-52), but it's more likely an 89 ('37-43). Most 89s have no ID label because they were built for OEM sale, but nearly all have a build number handwritten in pencil or ink near where the label would normally be. The penciled numbers in particular can be spidery and hard to spot among dust and refinishing debris, but a good light and a stiff artist's brush will often reveal it. From that number I can identify the model and approximate production date. The inner lining and block styles will also confirm whether it's by Kay.
