I’m thinking of fitting a John East J-Retro 01 system on my Vintage Reissued JM74 Bass, does anyone know if the chrome control plate is identical to the John East one and also whether the system will drop in the control cavity without modification? The preamp houses the 9 volt battery and I understand the cavity has to be a certain depth to accommodate it.

Yeah I’ve had a John East Pre before (Musicman type) and it was brilliant.

The JM74 does actually have a nice tone to it but I’ve heard great reviews on the J Retro and think it might take the bass to another level, and I do like active basses as a preference.

Yeah I’ll try and find out some more info out on their compatibility. I would imagine all the control plates are the same size across different manufacturers but you never know!

I have a J-Retro01 in my Jazz, would you like me to measure the depth?
