EB-3 or Thunderbird??

Against most people's advice I went for the EB-3.

I'll post again when I've owned it for a few days...

like Tbird said, both fine units, and I'm also sure you will like that EB as well as a TBird. I have a shortscale EB clone, and it is a fine looking and fine playing bass.

I just like the LOOK of the Bird better IMO ( especially when it is naked ) >>no pickguard

Actually, I would go for a 1960's EB-0, they are expensive, but sound much better than the Epiphone knock-offs and the current Gibson SG bass.

The EB-3 arrived a few days ago. It's definatly a totally different sound and feel than my Jazz bass, which is what I wanted. I love the way it looks, quality of construction seems to be pretty good too, especially since I payed $219 for it brand new. I'm not sure how much I dig the tone yet, but I've only played it at home at low volume. The neckdive sucks, but I can deal with it. And I feel bad ass playing "Sunshine of your Love".

you can allways relocate the strap button to the back of the neck, there's plenty of information about that on here on TB

I'm not a big fan of either as I am ATK's, P-bass Active Specials and StingRays, but I'd definitely rather take an EB-3 (Morello goes bass, hah. ) Kidding. I really do like the tone of the EB-3's bridge pickup better though.

Got rid of the EB-3. Traded in at Guitar Center towards an Epiphone Dot. Always wanted a semi-hollow guitar. I realized that I just couldn't bond with the Eb-3. I wanted to love it, but I didn't. It's not that it didn't have great tone, or wasn't well built, but it just wasn't comfortable to play. My Jazz just feels that much better to me. I'll build a second Jazz, then maybe investigate some other basses.

i think that's how it goes with those types of basses. i once had an EB-0 and i really wanted to like it (they look so cool) but in the end i got rid of it too.

since you're building a new jazz try different pup configurations to get a different sound in a familiar package.
