Ebay shenanigans (negative feedback for no good reason)

Gorn,

You may want to try to talk to him over the phone if possible.
He may be new to bass and simply not familiar with why a Bass needs maintenance and set up....let him know that you are concerned and want to make certain he is comfortable with the transaction. You can explain it and answer questions he may have. You can direct him to sites and articles to further explain it.

Posting/writing has not seen to help but a phone conversation may fix this situation for you once and for all

Good luck!
Talking on the phone would probably help him, but it won't help me if the situation goes bad. Every word between us has to be documented on ebay for ebay to see.

He took it upon himself to get the bass repaired, although in reality it was probably just a setup. As far as ebay is concerned, he altered the item without speaking with me first. That was his choice. I don't think they can force me to accept a return under those circumstances.

Possible. It shipped with dunlop super brights which have relatively low tension. I doubt the guy knows how to change strings.

Well the neck seemed to have banded itself. That's never a good thing.

my husband just pointed out to me that we've had people look at guitars who said "hey, the neck is bent!" with great stress because they were unfamiliar with neck relief. perhaps the neck isn't "banding" at all, but your clueless buyer just noticed the curve.

Hmmm...that sucks. I've never really had any major problems with the bay. There was one time where a buyer complained about me shipping some glass wear in a Smirnoff box lol. For me its always been the other way around. Seller selling things that didn't meet the description. Did have an incident with a guy breaking an antique lamp while he was trying to unpack it. Guy probably would've got his money back if he hadn't screwed his self in telling me he grabbed it by the bubble wrap and the wrap tore. Forwarded that to the complaint center and it pretty much ended that one. Tried to say it wasn't packaged well enough. Far as music gear goes nothing but good luck for me.

Have to watch out for "banding" from now on. Looks like the guy has you right where he wants you. He can even show eBay his repair bill from the shop he took it to. I forsee partial refund in your future.

I don't think so. Maybe if he told me he was having it repaired before hand but he did that without telling me and then left me bad feedback.

All positive too.

Of course it was. Sellers can't leave anything but positive feedback for buyers now. If he's never sold anything and became a member since Ebay started that policy, it wouldn't be anything other than 100%. I remember the good old days when a seller could leave negative feedback for deadbeat or abusive buyers.
