EBMM Stingray $3000 USD???!

Hi, before anything, this is not a troll thread im asking for advices or anything that can help in my situation. Im still deciding what option to take...a Gk Fusion 550, or a EBMM Stingray, my problem with stingray is that im currently living in Mexico...and you know econony here is crap, and in all the music stores i have went to, the price of a stingray is equivalent in USD to $3000!! and i think thats a lot of many knowing the real price in USD o a Stingray (and yes, i have checked guitar center but they dont have stingrays available to Mexico, and EBMM doesnt deliver here neither) so i wanted to know...is there a cheaper way for me to get an Stingray without it being used??

Buy here. Best deals around IMO...save for ridiculous random fire sale craigslist/ebay finds.

$3000 is nearly double what a new EBMM goes for in the US.

That's quite a "price hike."

Also, just a thought, is crossing the border to the US a problem for you? I don't imagine it's any different than going to Canada if you have all of your documentation, etc.

If so, perhaps take a visit to a Texas GC and buy there. Yes?

Why not try and buy one used? That would almost half the price.


You could of course look at "Sterling Ball" Music Mans, or an older Music Man SUB.

Also, don't know about the laws in Mexico, but you may even be able to buy a 3rd party Musicman Stingray style bass.

But if you want the real deal, and you want it new. It's going to cost you. Sadly, that's about the only way it'll happen! (or, you find a friend in the US and get them to buy one and send it to you).

Check the classfieds, if there's something you like ask if they would ship to México. I've done a couple of deals with members of this forum and I've never had a problem.

The first thought that came to mind was the GC in El Paso, on Gateway Blvd East just off the Geronimo Drive exit from I-10. Cara Federal 45 crosses into Texas just west of there.

I don't know the import rules to Mexico but if a new instrument, make an ad hoc performance at any nearest street corner as well as purchase a used hard case. Then when you return tell that you its your own instrument and you used it for a gig.*) Doing the gig makes you not lie to the customs officer.

*) Some countries actually check the outgoing gear and register the serial number in a database...

Check with basscentral. They can ship used ones across the border but not new ones.
