Ebony build: WARNING NSFW! Wood porn inside!

"what have we here? (...) poems, no less. Poems, everybody! The lad here reckons himself a poet!

;)

a luthier chemist and a poet! :p

Would a blunt Poet work? That would be one short a$$ poetry book, with 10 poems per page. Shall I compare thee to a Summers day....yes, next poem.

Love this build btw. My vote would have been 6, but I'm sure its too late by now.

Any chance you got those billets from a place in southwestern PA (not West Penn)?

Hardwood Emporium maybe? It's about 15 minutes from my office. They have a pretty big selection of billets.

Nope. The high risk boards came from Cook Woods in Oregon and the great board came from my favorite supplier anexotichardwood.com.

Five or six shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be five or six. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou three, excepting that thou then proceed to five or six. Seven is right out. Once the number five or six, being the fifth or sixth number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Ebony and Maple Bass of Antioch towards thy audience, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Watch 'Monty Python And The Holy Grail'. The scene about the 'Holy Hand Grenade' will have his "poetry" making sense to you. :D

Who guessed five and six?

Anyone? Anyone?

As someone who nearly bought that "black gold", do me a favour and build a long scale 6.

A 34" scale 4? Boring.
A 34" scale 5? Less boring.
A 35"scale ebony 4? Cool.
A 35" or more scale 6 made of ebony? You know you want to, Mr Pearson!!

You have some really rare stuff - don't spoil it by making a run of the mill 5 string :smug:

How about a 35" 5 and a 36" 6?

I waited a really long time to find a piece of 60" Ebony that was 4" wide. ---THEN I had to wait two more years to see if it would be good enough to work!

This will give me about an 80% yield from rough. That's an unbelievable conversion!
