Has anyone tried a SWR X-series amp with subwave? I know it's not a pedal, but I need a new amp and if there is a good subtle octave that can track built in, then all the better!

Honestly I feel like built-in effects are usually much less than impressive as to their standalone counterparts. Plus amps with built-in effects are usually a lot more expensive to repair should something happen to it.

I noticed on the Hell Freezes Over tour of the Eagles, Timothy B. Schmidt was using this model amp. On one of the songs he used an octave effect that seemed to track great even low down, and I didn't know if he was using the built in octaver or a pedal. does anyone know about that?

I have a peavey midibase. i am using it with a cheap peavey bass synth. It actually sounds pretty damn amazing octave down. the ocatve up sounds a bit cheesy but its because the synth isnt that great. The octave down though is amazing enough to justify keeping it.

today at a local store i tried the EHX Octave Multiplexer and the Boss OC-3


the EHX seemed kinda bogus to me, couldn't even really track to a low A on a 4 string, and didn't hold notes longer than a few seconds (even on the higher notes).

The Boss, on the other hand, seemed about right up my alley. if the EBS doesn't work out i'll probably go for the boss.

The OC-3 is pretty good. My one complaint is that it doesn't track active basses very well, but I haven't used any other octavers so I don't know if it holds true for all of them.
