EBS ValveDrive

So, I got an EBS ValveDrive today. It's smaller than I expected. Not sure how I'm liking it yet though. It might not be gainy enough to use as my only OD pedal. I've got the gain cranked and mids at 3 o'clock with bass and treble at noon. The vintage mode is useless to me. The modern mode is really crunchy, which I like, but I'm not sure it's heavy enough to use as a stand alone OD.

I tried using it with my Hematoma, but didn't really get anywhere with it. I've never had any luck running a dirt pedal into another dirt pedal. It always sounds like mud to me. Am I doing something wrong?

It also doesn't do so well with any of my other pedals. The µPOG seems to confuse it and just further mudify it. Definitely not βΘИΞКЯŲŜĦÏИĞ. My wah is unnoticeable and it seems like my flanger doesn't have enough to "feed on".

I'm really not sure if I'm going to keep it right now. I had really high hopes. I might try an English Muff'n next. If anyone has some cool ValveDrive setting, post 'em up and I'll check 'em out. Also, anyone had any good experiences with changing the tubes? Any thing a little higher gain? Just throwing the idea out there, I know people have tried it with the Muff'n.

I'm really hoping I can find a reason to keep it. I'll get some pictures up soon, I don't have a cable for my phone to connect it to my computer.

All these people wanting more more and more gain... and I can't seem to find pedals that are subtle enough for my tastes.
This pedal is perfect for you then.

The Valve Drive is certainly a subtle drive, but don't give up on it too soon.. I love the natural grit it gives me, and it feeds my modulators and filters very well. Check the dB switch on back.
I'm finding the best sound with the volume at 8 o'clock, treble at 1-2, mid cranked all the way, bass at 10-11, and gain cranked all the way. It seems to boost the bass a little, so that needs to get cut some, I boost the treble a little to give my flanger a little more to work with. And the combination of cranked mids and gain is seeming to give the the most βΘИΞКЯŲŜĦÏИĞ sound.

I hate you guys for making me want this.

But maybe optimus will contact me when he gets bored with it...
I will.

If you want more gain, with a grainy sound - just save time and buy the English Muff'n. My one was gain/grain tastic.
Every time I go into GC to try one, they wont let me because it's a guitar pedal. I got in a screaming match with the guy last time. Eventually calling him an idiot and storming out. I then proceeded to do donuts on their loading dock.

Make sure you dont have the pad (on the back) engaged. You'll get a lot more gain.
I had it on, I assumed that since I had pedals before it, I needed to keep it on. But turning it off added some more grit.

OH. MY. GOD.

Don't American's need money right now?

But yeah, the gain on the Muff'n is ridiculous when cranked. Like so vicious it would only be useful for feedback. Yet if you keep the drive down low, it's got a really nice low-mid gain sound. Don't worry about bottom though it has lots. You might find yourself cutting a tad bit of treble to reduce the grainyness though.

Yeah, it's ****ing stupid. I might go to GC (with the ValveDrive to compare) and demand they let me compare them. ****, I might withdraw $200 in cash to flash around just to make them think they might make a sale.

+1 on the "getting an English Muff'n" posts. I kinda miss mine....

I need soundclips of the ValveDrive (is it wrong to want to abbreviate that to "VD".... :ninja:) to compare to my memories of the Muff'n tho :p ;) :ninja:

That is such a good ending to that story :D

btw.... have fun with your new "VD"..... *snicker*

I can only do anything with my laptop microphone and Audacity. The clips come out horrible. I would if I could bro.

Some employees actually came out while I was doing it. Looked at me like I was crazy. The tire marks are still there, and this was in July.

It burns a little. All of your terms and abbreviations always catch on.

Get a Samson C01U. Thank me later. I do all my recs on my LT with Audacity. USB condenser mic FTW!

I'll look into one when I can scrape together some extra cash. Next venture is my Dirk Lance inspired 3-pedal fuzz rig. Should be fairly cheap though.

:D Hahahaha. I keep getting screwed on the internet. First the Bluebeard ordeal and now this ITD (internet transmitted disease). :spit:
