Ed Gagliardi

I was listening to Foreigner's debut album the other day while I was running some errands and was so impressed with the playing style AND tone of Ed Gagliardi!

When I was a kid growing up, I remember listening to Foreginer and always being gravitated to the bass in that band. But listening to it now? I have a whole nother level of appreciation for it!

He got such a monster tone and his playing was masterful! That TONE! I understand that he played a Ric and was heavily influenced (like many others) by Macca.

Although naturally right handed, he played left handed to pay homage to his hero.

What a great TONE and what a great bass player! An unsung, bass hero in my book.

Yup he was great and got one of the best Ric tones of all. Love his playing especially on that first album. I've posted about him before also but don't usually get many bites. His tone was to die for.

These are a few of my favorites from that album, got some bittersweet memories from the last one.

Cool... yeah, nice to know that we both appreciate his musicianship and the tone he achieved. I'd like to know what kind of amp he used on that album. Probably an SVT or maybe an Acoustic 360. Who knows. It was an iconic sound, for sure!

This is the only photo of him with an amp behind him that I've found so far:

Oh, I missed that, I doubt he used 360's, whatever he used he had a lot of treble, his live sound sounds like he's using SVT's. Tight, punchy and bright.
