Eden 210XLT Wiring Question

Need a bit of information for my Eden 210XLT cabinet. I bought an older cabinet that had banana plug connectors and purchased the part from Eden to convert it to Speakon. I pulled it apart and transferred over the crossover and input hardware. In reattaching the wiring, I've gotten paranoid that I did not remember the correct order of the connections. (It's an old age thing). Eden's service dept. is closed for the weekend. :bawl:

Attached is a photo of what I've done - what I'm concerned about are the three wires coming from the cabinet (black, red, white) and whether I have them in the right order on the PC board lugs on the crossover PC board. Can you confirm that I have these correct or set me straight?

Also, the new panel has a PC board for the Speakon connection, and they are marked + and -. But I want to make sure I have the right wires (black and white) on the right terminals - I neglected to check the polarity on the wires when I disconnected them from the original banana plug connectors. Thanks in advance for your guidance!

I cant help you now but can offer advice for the future. I work on all kinds of things. I take digital pictures often in sequence so there is no mistake during reassembly. I even do that when I have a manual. Hope ya make out OK


Did you try any of the Eden repair facilities across the country? The numbers are on Edens website.

Thanks. A picture is one of those things I thought of later, of course. I don't know how many repair facilities I can reach on a Saturday evening, and then one which will be patient enough to answer a freebie question. I'll try a couple, but I'm hoping someone here on TB has an answer or can take a look at their own cabinet.

Just called them. They were very nice and didn't want to be bothered. "There's no schematic, and I'd really have to have it in front of me to know." They've got paying customers in front of them and I just want free advice - don't blame them. If no one on TB can help I can always wait 'till Monday and call Eden directly. I was just hoping to get this thing live so I could jam with it before "back to work."

That sux! I know they're busy. Repairs/maintenance is always a week or so out.

Another 45 min. of practice time wasted!!
DIAGNOSIS: OK so I checked the wiring (thanks, guys), screw the thing back together, and... N-O S-O-U-N-D. :scowl: Checked the settings on the amp (twice) - no problem. OK maybe I wired something up wrong or broke something in changing the input panel - pulled it apart again, checked everything, and reassured myself I was really careful the first time around. Hmmm... maybe the battery was dead in the bass? (checked with another amp - not the battery, not the guitar). Maybe the speaker cable's bad? Swapped the cable - still no sound. Hmmm... maybe the guitar cable? Well, the GB input light was lighting up, so I didn't think so, but swapped the guitar cable just to make sure. No sound. Hmmm... My audio engineer brother-in-law says "it's almost always a cable problem." Checked the cables again - no sound. Checked the crossover wiring again - nothing. the internal fuse looked a bit corroded, so I cleaned the contacts on the fuse and reinstalled. No sound. Are the speakers even working? took the crossover out of the circuit and hooked the leads directly to the speaker cable - no sound. Tried the old 9V battery test - a click but no movement of the speaker cone. Hmmm... gotta be in the speaker somewhere... Looked at the connections inside the cabinet - nothing obvious. Did I break a lead to a speaker? started pulling the speaker wires out gently to check them... Huh - what's that empty spade connector doing in here ... Aha! Must've pulled it off the speaker when I pulled out the crossover.
THE FIX: Can I reach it?? No, I could only reach to the magnet because my muscular forearm (er, fleshy... ok... fat) forearm won't fit. Plus, I've got an itchy arm from the fiberglass insulation - wash arm and change shirt.... Hmmm... maybe take the speaker out and reconnect from the front? I unscrewed the grill, unscrewed the speaker, and... won't budge. It's probably sealed into the cabinet, and I don't want to have to reseal it... Hmmm... maybe I can reach in there with something - Ah - I knew I was saving that long forceps clamp for something! After a few minutes of wrangling (getting the clamp to stop sticking to the speaker magnet was a challenge), I got it connected, screwed the whole thing back together, and BING!!! Ready to rock! Ah, the joys of do-it-yourself.... :bassist:
