Eden Navigator problems... please help

I posted this on the Eden forum, but thought I'd ask here as well, as answers seem to be quicker and more forthcoming...

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica] Ok, so I recently purchased an 06' WP100B... I must say, I am very impressed with the unit's capabilities and it has wonderful tone.

my only concern is that when plugged into my poweramp it is very soft, even when pushed to it's limits? I literally have to push the gain to like 3 o'clock with all of my active basses just to get the clip light to blink as recommended, but by this stage, there is already a noticeable amount of distortion in the signal? even with the master and gain maxed, the unit is still only half the volume of my tiny EBS Microbass II pre which is only powered by a single 9V battery!

All my active basses normally run quite hot into my other preamps, so I can't understand why I have to dime the eden to get any volume out of it? I tried replacing the tube and it made no difference...

can someone tell me about the internal output gain attenuator? it comes set at the 2.8 setting (switch out), is that correct? is this the louder or softer setting?

I really hope there is nothing wrong with this unit as I just bought it, and I live in South Africa, so getting it serviced will be a nightmare...

please can someone help me out with some suggestions/advice? :bawl:

If I recall correctly, the 2.8 was indeed louder.

Much louder.

I was shocked that I had to cut the gain back for my amp -- since I'm a huge headroom guy.

I've never heard such a good match for my Crown amp & SWR speakers. Such a killer rig!

I don't know much about Yamaha amps...sorry.

Try a Crown! :D

ummm tried evrything I could think of and every recommendation, but nothing helped, so I eventually took it in to the shop where I bought it and they'll have a local tech take a look at it... Hopefully he knows what he's doing...

If it's what I *think* it is, I had a similar problem with mine (which I no longer own). Here's the thread that relates to said problem:

Navigator output issue

I sent mine off to Eden and they fixed it. Took about 6 weeks to get it back, but no matter - they didn't charge me much and they got the problem resolved. IIRC, the problem was related to FETs that needed to be replaced.
