Eden/ Nemesis experience?

Hey, anybody have any experience with the NS series, the N28S to be exact? I'm looking for a great sounding small amp for practice and backstage use. I was thinking Polytone mini brute or roland cube, as I know they sound great for a small box. What do the talkbass folks think of the nemesis series?
Any other small amps to look for, I'm checking Craigslist in every town we go to, picking up random bits of cool, older gear!

I have 2 small Nemesis amps. One is a single 10" with tweeter (N10S) and one is a single 8" (N8). Both are the first generation of the Nemesis Silver Series -- I believe they have changed since I bought mine.

Both of these amps are outstanding. Their tone is really solid and deep. Even the N8 has surprisingly real bass tone. I have heard that the N28S is even better, but don't have any experience there.

I took some bass classes at Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago.... group class with about 8 students. We all came in with our basses and small amps. When I played through the N8 everyone asked what the heck i was using because it sounded so much better than anyone else. (I like to think the tone was in my fingers, but the amp really helped too!)

Recently, my keyboard player has been using my N10S when we rehearse and he keeps commenting on what a great sounding keyboard amp it is.

I have heard people say good things about the Roland too, but you will not be sorry with the Nemesis.

I had an RS115 combo. Loved the amp, except Eden wired the thing series out to match the 410 combo and 212 combo. Other than that it was a tank and a good sounding amp.

Even the N8 has surprisingly real bass tone. I have heard that the N28S is even better, but don't have any experience there.

I have an N28S, and I love it. Alas, I don't think they make them any more. If you can find one used, grab it.

It's the first entirely solid state amp I've ever owned, something I once thought would never happen. But they got the preamp right - it's a slightly simplified version of the preamp in the bigger Nemesis amps, without the semiparametric midrange (the frequency is fixed), but still with the compressor.

It does surprisingly well in a medium size room - but I blew out the tweeter on mine on a gig where I thought it was going to have PA support, but didn't. My bad - I play hard sometimes, and was really slamming the strings against the fingerboard for a crunchy, percussive attack. I should have had an extension speaker, it's got enough power to push one.

I played a a gig using a friend's EN700 head. I didn't have any brand familiarity at the time but it sounded great through the rest of my rig

I had an ENX260 head, it was really nice. The "Enhance" knob is really nice

Like Fenderhutz, I had the RS115. Great little combo - versatile, light, and good tone. I recommended it to a good friend who has used it on 100+ gigs per year for several years without a single issue that I'm aware of.

Nice practice amp. I played it when I was shopping around, but I wanted something that could do some gigs here and there too. Got myself the E410c- couldn't be happier.

I've owned an NC250 for about 5 years now...I've been extremely happy.

Fairly light, very portable. High quality.

The 2x10s are loud enough to keep up with a loud drummer in a rock gig, and running a SansAmp as a pre-amp really sweetens the sound.

I couldn't afford the Metro, but wanted a one trip rig. Lately I've been using it for doubling with electric and upright, struggling with mixed results.

Not sure about the N28S series though. Good luck on your quest for the sound.

I have an Eden Nemesis N10s first series that, imho, is a great little combo. It has a wonderful tone for home use. I can also sit out on the patio with my ipod and heaphones and play. I also have used it along with my Eden 410XLT with favorable results.

I have had one of the early versions of the 2x10 combo since they were released. An excellent amp, and as others have said, that 200 watts into two 10's is plenty loud for most situations. Great tone shaping EQ, Eden's "Enhance" control is there... When I eventually needed to upgrade to a bigger setup I stayed with Eden, in fact.

i have a Nemesis NC-212 combo.. i've had it for around two years now, i think it's one of the last ones before the RS series came out.. (has the old rectangle shaped logo)

it's been a great amp.. it's surprisingly powerful for only being 320W.. i know that the Nemesis series amps have been voiced differently than the David series Edens.. the Nemesis is a more "traditional" sounding amp.. i read somewhere that the Nemesis amps with the EQs set flat (12 o'clock) mimic SWR's tone.. as to which SWR, i really don't know.. but it's not nearly as modern sounding as any other Eden David series amp i've played through.. (WT-800)

i've not played through the Silver Nemesis amps.. but, if it's similar to the blue Nemesis amps, they should be really nice..

i really wish i could find one of the 8x10 Nemesis combos.. that would be sweet..

I was told by a very respected Eden dealer that he thought the Nemesis line sounded better than the other stuff Eden was throwing out, at the time. I had a Nemesis 700W head and two Nemesis cabs and loved it. Was using it for the song in my sig.
