Eden WT-300 Loud Enough For Gigs?

I been using a WT-300 since 95. Here my 2 cents:

I used two Eden 8 ohm cabs, a d-210t and a d-115t for years in a large dance band playing in larger rooms with FOH support and it got the job done, not a hiccup.

Later I started using an 8 ohm Accugroove Tri-115 (my back was very happy) and found the WT-300 underpowered. So I had to add a power amp, a Crown Xt-1000, in between the head and the cab.

These Wt-300's are great amps but cab choice is critical. You'll need 2-8ohm cabs or 1-4 ohm to access all 300 watts. Cab efficiency is something to remember too. Used Eden cabs would be good choice but you may already have cabinets.

Good Luck

I used to gig a lot with the WT300 and a 4 ohm D410XLT. It did fairly well but I felt like I didn't have a lot of headroom with how hard I was pushing the amp. I usually had both the gain and master at about 12 o'clock.

I ran the same set up for years. I too felt that I never had enough headroom. I took advantage of an upgrade Eden offered a while back where they would take the WT300 and basically convert into what was the WT400. They added the extra 100 watts, made the compressor defeatable, and a few other items. This made a huge improvement and I've used this amp for over 14 years, but I still feel like I need more headroom. I typically have to monitor the amps limit indicator when I have to push it harder on some gigs. The companies more recent WT550 is probably where this amp should be sitting from a power standpoint.

Like others have said though, the WT300 will definitely work in small rooms. Should work in most medium settings, the room itself as well as the type of gig will greatly factor in here.

I've got the 600 watt version which is DEFINITELY loud enough. I will also say it's on the loud end of the spectrum as far as 600 watt solid state amps are concerned. So, depending on your genre and style, you might be in luck. Another important factor is what kind of cab(s) you're using?

Woh! Yall's group is awesome great basic americana with some emo-ish electric guitar/sections and the time signature teases are fantastic. Great bass tone. great harmonies and great dynamic drummer that doesnt loose the vision of simple drumming but has the ability to play more and doesnt. Yall coming to Birmingham, AL soon?

I also play a wt300 and it sounds great but just played a show and it lacked the headroom i needed run at 4 ohms :( I guess I should get a 600 but Im looking into a micro that has a similar warm voice, any guesses?

Hey everyone I came a across a good deal on a used Eden WT-300 and my question is will it be loud enough and cut through the mix for gigs?

I absolutely adore the tone this thing puts out, but I want to make sure it will get the job done before I spend my money on it. Im currently playing in a rock cover band around the southeast mostly small/medium to large sized bars and clubs so what do you think?

Well yeah. :bassist:

I have a WT400 and its gets the job done if you have the right cabs...although it gets pushed to it's limitations in my band...Honestly,I cannot see a WT300 keeping up with a general rock setting (unless it's a fairly quiet band).
What you can do is use a poweramp with it..any kind...just run a guitar cable from the headphone jack of the WE300 into the back input of the poweramp..It worked for me.

I used a WT 300....2 cabs...either 2x10s...or 2x10 and 15"....in bar settings loved the tone....but always left me wanting more headroom....found I got swallowed up on stage.....went to a GK 700RB.... less warmer than the Eden....but for me it.... fit well for the rock scene in the bars.

I have used my WT 300 in medium rooms and outdoors for about 10 years now with a loud Big Band and a cover band. It all depends on the cabs you´ll be using. I now have two very efficient 12-6 cabs and haven´t run into any headroom problems for a long time. Loud cabs can easily make up for the difference between 300 and 600 watts. However I doubt that hartke cab will do that for you. A double 4*10 stack will go a long way though. If you can find a good deal for an identical hartke cab that would be a very good solution. PA support might be a good temporary solution, the wt 300 di is decent enough. And nothing beats the eden tone stack!

The reason some might loose headroom with the Eden amps is the relatively low center frequnecy for the bass control (30 hz) I learnt to leave that dial alone, or use it to cut the lowest frequencies and use the parametrics to boost bass at 80 to 120 hz. That, and the Fdeck hpf, added to the headroom bigtime.

Yes...The SVT810 was a huge improvement in volume and was on tour when my band toured with The Fixx and that was their bass players rig

I had ditched my WT400 by then for the WT800 to get the volume I needed with my Eden cabs

But was even happier when I moved to my Mark Bass SA450 ....cleaner ,punchier and never had a need for more volume

New question, similar topic. I have an Eden WT300 running to a D-410XLT and a Trace Elliot single 15, and since both cabs are 8 ohm, I assume I'm getting all 300 watts at 4 ohms. I play in a rather loud surf band. I also have a MarkBass CMD 102P 300/500 watt with 2x10 that I could extend withh the Trace Elliot single 15 for a full 500 watts. In terms of tone, I think I'm better with the Eden rig, but for headroom, the MarkBass. Anyone have an opinion?

I switched from an Eden to a Markbass head (a WT400 to a LittleMark III) for exactly this same sort of reason. I don't know the WT300, but I found the WT400 ran out of headroom very quickly in a band that was even moderately loud. With MarkBass, I have never had that sort of problem.

That's what I figured. Think I'll stick with the Markbass and add a 4x10 to it.
