I've been an Eden Fan for a long time, in fact my first Eden was a wt500 bought new in the early to mid 90's.( can't remember exactly) To me back then the sound was amazing over what my GK 800rb was giving me. I loved my old 70's SVT With the 810 fridge but when I heard that Eden wow!
My main rig is a wt550 with a 210 Eden cab. ( I mostly play small clubs).
They say that the wt400 was the warmest sounding Eden ever built. The best amp ever? Doubt it.

There are just too many Awsome amplifiers out now for bass players to choose from. Like so many have said before " it's a matter of personal preference".

IMO ( from a die hard edenite) the best amp ever ....... Ampeg SVT . Just can't beat em!

I'd love to hear how a wt400 stacks up to a E-300(tube). Both of which are no longer made, I think?

Anyhow my .002c

Peace.

Personally, next to my old SVT CL, I think the WT400 is the best sounding amp I've ever had the luxury of owning and playing out of.
It could have been the combination of the bass I owned at the time + the speaker configuration, but to plug into a tiny golden box EQ'd completely flat and to sound THAT good, I don't know why I wound up selling the thing.

this poll is too narrow for me.... I like very much the design of eden world tour amps, but the 400 seems too close to being under powered for all potential applications, but the 550 is better and the 800 is awesome especially if you can run 2 ohms in a pinch. so I'm pro eden, but not pro 400 for a wide paint brush stroke....

I like my 400 but it is not powerful enough for me...so I slave it to a power amp :D

I doubled on a WT300 for a long time, took a break from music and in getting back to playing I re-tubed and cleaned it up and realized there was something I really disliked about it, but couldn't put my finger on it other than it had something to do with the enhance knob. Like dating for the first time after a long, overstayed, fizzled out and dried up relationship beyond the point of even caring to hate one another anymore for the wasted time, I started playing every amp I could and it finally dawned on me that Eden amps really color your sound. No matter how hard I tried to zero out that enhance knob or tweak the EQ, its a signature of the designer through what he feels is a specific and necessary compression found throughout his amp-lines and ultimately needs to be one of the reasons why you buy one.

So, with clarity of tone in mind I recently ended a new search for new life with the Genz Benz Shuttle 6 and haven't looked back since. If you love your Eden, there are definite reasons why and really can't be argued with as it is truly a matter of personal taste, especially with an Eden. I'll never take anything away from the quality and craftsmanship of Eden gear, they are worldclass all around, just not in my world.

That being said, I am happy to hear of anyone playing on the amp they feel is the best amp ever as there is really no better feeling ever knowing you are and now will always be backed by your favorite.

i had a very similar experience after a hiatus not liking my WT300, and deciding on a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0. I tried several things out to settle on the Shuttle, but haven't been able to afford one yet. I have an older USA made Ampeg SVT3pro that I'm gigging with right now. Wish I had the time to either sell it and find a good deal on a shuttle, or find someone to trade me straight over for a shuttle 6.0. I have gigs and practices every week so I can't afford to sell it and wait for a shuttle to be shipped.

what about the 800??

Of all the amps I've owned, the 800 was one of the most troublesome pieces of gear I owned. I bought it because I loved the WT300 but wanted more power. This unit was sent back to Eden multiple times (yes, this is before the buyout) and it worked for a few weeks and then I would have another problem with it. At the time I was using a 410xlt (which is one of my favorite cabs of all time). When it was working it was great. After a few months I got tired of having to deal with it and moved away from Eden.

Still like the WT300/400/550 and thought about getting a 550 recently. The only reason I don't have a 410xlt now, is that I haven't been using 410s much. Still thinking about getting another one. I have always liked the Eden tone and think the WT400 is a great amp....The greatest????... time will tell

I have a wt400 and I think its the best Eden amp. Use with the 410xlt its nice combination. I would not get a new one, but mine is going to stay. To that end, I like those super heavy tube amps best.
