Eden WTX-500 price.

Hi! Just saw the Eden new 500w WTX and was surprised by the price of the amp. It is 650$ at musiciansfriend and that shouldn't be surprising if compared with other lightweight bass heads with similar wattage, like Markbass LMII is 600$ but still, the WTX-260 was about 600$ so it is nice to see that they doubled the wattage but almost kept the same price. So, what do you think about it? Was the WTX-260 overpriced and Eden couldn't compete with other lightweight bass heads if they'd put higher price? And if the WTX-260 wasn't overpriced, how did they kept price for 500 so low at times like these when everyone is putting prices up? Sorry, didn't make a research and don't know if Eden have moved any of their manufacturing overseas. Also, maybe it is only preorder price? Well, if its just a good price to compete with other companies and Eden haven't compromised quality for price, then I think I should buy one :)
If this has already been discussed then sorry, missed it.
Have a nice day!

That seems a fair price to me for that unit. I found the 260 to be very underpowered and overpriced versus the competition. If the 500 is ever actually released, at that price point, it should be much more competitive with the Markbass, GK and Genz Micro's, which are similarly rated and around that price.

Eden has been reorganized. Manufacturing is going to be almost entirely done in Asia. Design is in the US. Prices are dropping 15% or a bit more across the board to reflect this.

I certainly hope that there will be a price decrease that reflects their lower production costs. Hopefully, they will use the Loud/Ampeg model as what NOT to do when production is shipped overseas.

Some companies who manufacture overseas are very sucessful (Genz, Ashdown) and provide IMO a good amount of bang for the buck for the consumer and profit for the company.

If the WTX-500 behaves anything like the WTX-260 did, a price of $650 is still way too high. I really liked the sound of the 260, but I never believed its 260 watt rating. The sound it made when it clipped (which it did easily) was absolutely horrible.

I have to say I agree with you here if the 500 does not put out similar volume and low end as the 'industry leaders' in the micro category. I think Eden is 3 years behind the curve on this technology.

Per the comments above, my disappointment in the newer Eden designs is not so much QA (i.e., them breaking down), but rather poor design.

From what I heard, they intend to follow the better model of design and build. The engineer that 'turned around' Randall (on the guitar side), is now heading up Eden's redesign.
