Double Bass Edgar Meyer (Vibrato)

This was a very interesting discussion, thanks to all who participated. I've been wondering about the use of vibrato myself. My teacher always used to encourage me to use more vibrato, and I would wonder why. I can see where it may add something here and there, but I never cared for the sound of vibrato on a bass very much. (I don't like it on violins or cellos either.) Anyway, there are obviously lots of ways of looking at it, but all in all this was a great discussion.
