Effects for Musical?

Hi folks - Am playing in the band for the musical Rent in April
was wondering if anyone could suggest a good multi effects unit such as the line 6 bass pod etc?

Honestly, my girlfriend is obsessed with Rent, I've been through the music a lot, and I've never noticed a need for multi-fx. Just run straight to your amp, you won't be missing anything.

Forget Multi-FX:

Chain together as many MXR Micro Amps as you possibly can run that into the highest-gain amp you can find and crank all the knobs to maxxxxxxxxxxxx

































Seriously now, why would you need a multi-FX for a musical, isn't all the music orchestral???? (ie. useing acoustic instruments such as the UPRIGHT bass)

Nope, some are more rock oriented a la Footloose, Rent and a few others.

I've played in plenty of pits, everywhere from classical style music in Sound of Music to rock in Footloose.
