Effects go before the EQ?

Here is what i got:

Boss Compression Sustainer
Boss GEB-7
MXR-M80
Zoom B2

I use to put zoom b2 first because of the compression and the effects. Now i bought compression pedal so my order at the moment is:

Bass -->Boss Compression Sustainer --> Zoom B2 (effects only) --> Boss GEB-7 (for slap sound) --> MXR M-80 (for tone) --> Amp (mostly set flat)

it depends on the rest of the gear and mostly on what you're trying to achieve...

if you use an overdrive/distortion pedal, EQ in front of it can make it distort boosted frequencies more than other frequencies... that's just one example, though mostly people use EQ at the end...

leave your amp's EQ for room adjustments, not tone shaping...

hmm,

I don't use distortion technically, only use the MXR act like a preamp and get most of my tone from that. My amp mainly set flat and make small adjustment so can cut in the mix.

I prefer to run my EBS MultiComp in my effects loop, post-EQ. I find it allows me to add more frequencies to compress, rather than boosting an already compressed signal which seems counterintuitive to me.

I also like to run filters and other such effects post-EQ as it gives them more texture to work with.

This is probably a silly answer, but if you want to effect an EQ'ed signal, put the EQ in front. If you want to EQ the effect, put it last.
