Effects simple splitting question

Hello there
I am a new to the effects splitting techniques, but while looking around the forum, I didn't find a solution or a question similar to my case. So my problem is as follows.

I have this configuration:
I use two Y cables, one plugged in to the input of each pedal and the output of the bass, one for the output of each pedal and the input of the amp. The reasons for doing this is to get a blend effect, since my dist pedal doesn't have a blend knob. The result however is the distortion pedal being the only one that is heard through the amp. The cleand pedal (Behringer BOD, with the blend knob all the way down to clean signal) cannot be heard at all.

What is it that I'm doing wrong?
Is there a further analysis on what could be going wrong? (schemes and all this practical stuff I know nothing about)

Thanks in advance. :)

yah because your bass is a Mono Output only, in a your Y Split cable, you get a 1 X Male plug TRS and 2 X Male plug TS, your bass output signal will only go through the Ring of the TRS to one of the TS output (For Ring) that is why you are only hearing the output of your bass at your distortion only, like what the rest mentioned, Boss LS2 is a good solution and cheap solution (i believe you can get it for less than USD60 used) but basically any parallel mixer pedal will do the job

If you are using a TRS to two TS jacks kind of Y cable, otherwise known as an insert cable, then as above, it will not work as your bass signal will only go through one of the signal paths.

If you have a true signal split, with a TS jack going to two TS jacks, then it should work, although your results will vary depending on the input/output impedances of the pedals - they will need to be fairly close to each other to get an equal blend.
