Effects- where to start

When it's time to start with fx I always suggest a cheap multifx unit (new or used) . They're a good starting point to learn how the fx sound and which of them work for oneself personal needs. After a learning process it's ok to switch to single dedicates pedals for every fx you really want to use to get your sound.

Hmmm, UK?

I'd snag a couple Harley Benton pedals. The Ultimate Drive is a very nice bass friendly overdrive that goes from low gain to full on destroyer.

Another cheap HB option is the American Sound. Gets a lot of love in the Joyo thread.

Plus, these babies are cheap. If you hate them ( I doubt this), you can recoup most of your money.

Maybe some euro-bassers can chime in on other good options near you...

The problem is, I'm in the UK. The ones I've seen on eBay are also USA sales.

I've seen a couple more pedals I like, so will probably just keep browsing eBay and the classifieds for now.

Thank you

Kieran
I got one for sale. For it not to cost an arm and a leg to ship it, the package has to stay under four pounds and go first class mail. I could box my pedal up and see how much it weighs if you want. The Sub-Lime is super versatile, it goes from a clean boost to a heavy muff fuzz tone and all points in between. I have a Bluebeard and a Idiotbox Ron FN Swanson Super Fuzz clone why I am moving the Sub-Lime but in actuality it is more versatile than either but my laziness wants two pedals one set to a bit O' fuzz and one set to stun.

This is a good TBer to deal with, OP.

That would be brilliant if you could do that mate. Thanks. How much are you wanting to sell it for?

Thankyou

Kieran

I got a possible offer on it this afternoon today but I still checked for you. Bad news there too, it was dead on four pounds with just the pedal and box, so before even adding packing material it was already weighed too much to go first class rate. Sorry.

Thankyou

Kieran

Ah bugger. Thanks anyways mate. Appreciate you checking for me.

Will have to keep an eye out for one in the UK.

Although, from what I've seen and heard, the ashdown, dr green, bearded lady looks up my street.

Here is another great Russian Muff variant that works great on bass. I kind of want to get another. Super versatile with tone bypass and clipping switches. Used I think I picked one up for $90 or so. Skullytone Russian Spy. I would love to try an EQD Hoof on bass someday too.
