Hello,

My private teacher assigned for me to learn all of Ein Heldenleben, but we are starting out with excerpt 9. He suggested fingerings for the excerpt, but I'm trying to explore other fingerings as well. Do you have any suggestions for fingerings? If you could give me some advice that would be great! Thanks so much!!

Hi Alexis, I am sure that by now you have figured out all the fingerings you will need for the Strauss and anything else. I always say, "Play it with your chin (or nose) if it sounds good!" But there are some basic logical approaches to fingering -- those involving focus on form and motion, and those focusing on rhythm (of the music) and sound quality. Consider both in every passage. Best!
