I'm building my pedalboard and I've come to a crucial decision: Big Muff or El Grande. I can't really chose and I really don't want to get one and wish I had gotten the other, so can you guys help me out?

El Grande vs The Big Muff

As far as the el grande goes, It is a pretty ok sounding fuzz. The bass boost needs to be adjusted or it is WAY too muddy. Overall you could do worse. I would get one over the standard big muff.
Now... compared to the bass big muff. BBM wins hands down. It has a standard muff mode, mix with clean blend, and a boosted bass mode. Can't beat that. the Boost mode does kinda what the el grande does, but overall better sounding. The dry mode.... pretty great just wish it had a separate volume for muff and clean.

Well, as hard as it is too believe, there are no music stores where I live so I have to bass everything off of youtube which is an awful way of going about doing things. That's why I come here before I make final decisions.

Tried them both.....and you can see which one made its's way on to my board....

I own both, and I disagree with everyone here about how the two compare in terms of sound. The El Grande is much more versatile once you really get to know the internal trimpot/frequency selector.
The BBM sounds pretty good, but it really is a one trick pony to me. Here's why:
- The bass boost is WAY to much, to the point were it's completely useless to me. No trimpots. Just on or off. Instant mud.
- The clean blend mode will only have noticeable amounts of fuzz if you turn up the volume WAY to loud compared to bypassed volume.
That said, I'm using my BBM now (In normal mode). Why?
Because the damned MXR broke on me, and I haven't even gigged it yet!
This, of course, makes it rather difficult to wholeheartedly recommend the El Grande.

El Grande= WAY too hot in terms of output, with massive bass. That may distract some from it's run-of-the-mill fuzz sound.
Bass Big Muff: much more reasonable level, lots of versatility. yes, the blend would be more useful with a seperate output level control but guess what - it's a 3-knob muff, that's just a "bonus" (and if you put it in a volume contolled loop, you're golden!)

I would go with the BBM.
I own both and don't really like the el grande.
it seems much more harsh a splattery sounding, while the BBM is smooth like butter.

I didn't like the El Grande at all. Even the lowest possible setting was like sticking your face in a blast furnace.
I actually sold my BBM recently, but it is the superior pedal of the two.
