Well the reality is that that is how it is divided. Especially by the executives that usually know nothing about truth,roots or culture.

Probably- it's still silly to me though, particularly if the musicians start believing in those segregations that execs originally made. I grew up in a mixed race neighborhood and area, and the idea someone thinking that me and a black friend of mine who came from the same place and culture should be put into different categories is ridiculous.

Music does have a life of it's own. No different than the fact that electricity is a life form itself.

I'm not much for the religious/spiritual stuff- there's no life to music or electricity. It's cool if others want to believe in it though, although I wouldn't mention that it's a "fact" as electricity does not fit into the category of a life form by any part of the definition.

The segregation is fact and extremely prevalent even now.

Tell that to the executives that chose to barely play black music(by black artists) on the radio in the 80's. Tell that to the executives who would not play music video's by black artists. But that did change when Micheal Jackson was able to kick that door in.

No. You can produce static electricity, but your body is not made of it. The static charges you can produce are not life forms either.

I saw that documentary years ago and will have to watch it again when I have time but it's a good one.

The 1980's are interesting in that they might have been the single decade with the greatest divide between what black and white people were listening to, at least in terms of music being created during that decade. That's what always made the Talking Heads so interesting to me, especially later with their multicultural touring band as they had their feet in both camps moreso than any other band during that time period.

Just finished watching it. Nice documentary. Only thing I disliked about it was that I hate hearing "black music" or "white music," which were often mentioned. Music doesn't care what the color of the person playing it is, nor the color of the people who created it. I don't use white electricity or eat black peanut butter

I agree they were wrong to do so.

Where does it end? If all people can perform music with the same emotion and respect for musics origins, Aren't we doing a disservice by continuing the process? As far as the segregation, I'm sure that works in all directions now as well (ie;race,sex,etc).

Somebody has to stop things they disagree with, or they'll never change. Instead of bringing that point to light, end the existance of that point.
