The guitarist of my current band was the drummer of every other band I've been in. He used to own an acoustic kit years back, I honestly can't remember what brand it was. He sold it back in high school and bought an electric kit, once again I'm not 100% sure what it is, its an old Roland V-series something or other. Whenever we played live, he would never use the electric kit, he would either borrow a friend's kit or bum off another band that were performing the day we were. Now that he is the guitarist and split frontman, his kit is used solely for recording. Our drummer uses the electric kit for practices and for live performances, but when it comes to recording it is much easier to use the electric kit due to change of sounds and its less expensive to set that up than get drum mics for a good clear sound. In all honesty, if we didn't have that electric kit we'd be in some trouble. Either that or have sub-par drum sounds on our recordings
