Was working on a down tune guitar sound mic setup, with a Vintage Mesa EVM half back cab you know the real expensive one with the big old heat sink thing on the speaker magnet, I swept it with a sine wave and heard an odd noise coming from the open back mic, after investigating I found a big circular aluminium label that says "this equipment uses the reliable electrovoice EVM series II speaker" No doubt fitted by some well meaning sales person from mesa, the only problem is that it was half glued on, completely covering the rear facing hole in the center of the magnet, which is part of the vented gap voice coil cooling system and was squeezing off rasping little farty noises.
Sod vintage originality, I have removed this label and the cab sounds great now, ***!
Anybody else got a mesa cab with these stupid destructive labels?.
