Elixir Stainless Steel Coated Bass Strings

With a set of standard nickel wounds/uncoated strings on, it's not a real problem. My fingers touch the poles, no real big interference hum or buzz. With the coated stainless on, it's very noticeable..

Switched over a set of D'addario XL Nickels onto the Jazz and put the Elixir coated Stainless onto my Lakland 4402 which has non-exposed poles. Zero hum/noise from the jazz and same goes for the Lakland.... Problem sorted!

I'm still liking the Elixir Steels. They are turning a strange brown color in spots, though. They sound like bright nickels which I like. The bass I have them on has been spending a lot of time getting new pickups and preamp, but now that I've got that dialed in I can get serious and listen to some strings. I'm going to compare these to Blue Steel nickels and EB Cobalts, along with the GHS Progressives I have already tried and figure out which ones I like best.

I'll be honest though..these Elixirs are going to have make me sound phenomenal to justify the price. I do like them, but I'm guess they'll be $35 a set like the Nanos. Ouch.
