I am a big fan of Elixir because of their longevity and also for the smooth feel. Unfortunately the B string of their 5 string set is too short for my multi-scale bass with a 35” scale at the B string and also for my string through the body 34” scale bass. The string starts to taper at 36.5” so it’s about 1/2” too short to properly sit in the nut. On their web site Elixir lists a single extra long B string (PN 15433) but they don’t seem to be available anymore. I sent Elixir 3 emails a few weeks ago but they never answered back. Does anyone know where I can buy the B string? Also can anyone recommend which roundwound strings that have the smoothest feel?
Hello, I have been using elixir for over 20 years, there is no better string, it is not only because of the durability in Stainles Steel Eñixir that is the best of all the strings that can exist, but because you have a stronger tone, they are totally balanced brightness and the mids are impressive but what is really amazing is that the deep Lows are totally deep and the bass feels gigantic, the best Tension,, I have spent a lot of money comparing, I have tried everything, with all due respect, neither the thomastic, nor the Curt coated, nor the Sadowsky EnieBall, Fodera, Sadowsky, DR, LA bella, strings ETC. I am not mention more brands because i don't finish, In my personal opinion,,,nothin in the word it is better than elixir nanoweb Stainles Steel, maybe the other strings mentioned and the ones I didn't mention have a very nice tone, but you know that nice tone the durability good sound will last only 1 to 3 Shows, that's no cost effective, even in the first show you notice how expensive strings lose their magic, but that doesn't happen with Elixir, you have the magic for more than 8 months, incredible I had elixir strings for 2 years and they still sounded better than any other brands

I changed them because I wanted to, not because they lost tone, it is true that the elixir in Stainles Steel maintains the perfect tone for more than 8 months and they sound good for more than 2 years. MY Friend, what I advise you is to buy the 4-string elixir package in Stainles Steel and the Low B 5 since elixir is not manufacturing it yet, it will soon, use an Ernieball Coated LowB fifth, you will not feel any difference and they are long Scale, is what I'm doing for my Sadowsky NYC and Sadowsky Yoshi V70. As elixir nanoweb Stainles Steel is the best string in the world be very careful, they are copying them, I mean they are selling Fake China elixir strings and they are already imitating the new package with everything and original seal that Elixir had changed due to the same counterfeiting problem. just ask yourself why are copying Elixir?, because they are the best, if you have any doubt which is the original and copy, you can write to me.
For now use this
