EMG 40j and 40CS wiring

hey there, have you configured it out?

Based on my understanding of how the EMG system works, I think it's possible.

I've done rewiring in my EMG equipped bass. It has two EMG pickups, two vol pots, and without selector switch either, but neither I used the included tone pots since I opted to use EMG BQS control for the preamp. I wired each pickup to each vol pot (they are push/pull pots since both pickups are the TWX series), then I wired the first vol pot to the second vol pot, and then I took the output from the second vol pot to the EMG BQS Control input.

The way I understand how the EMG system works, for the kind of configuration that you're after, you'll need to use their B245 (or maybe B157) Pickup Buss (though in my configuration, it's not needed). But since you're using it without pickup selector switch, you'll need to install jumper wires on the Pickup Buss green switch block, both from the BR terminal to O terminal and from the NK terminal to O terminal.

Thanks for reply.
I try to wire them like you described, each pickup on each vol pot, then tie them together and output from second one into the tone pot. That's working fine, it seems that two tone pots for each pickup is not working well or I have some issues with pots. After all I'll install active preamp and fix the problem. :)

did you use the B245 Pickup Buss?

if I were to assume that you didn't have the B245 Buss, although I don't know whether this could work, you might try to connect each pickup to its tone pot first before going to the vol pot. Then wired the two vol pot together, then to the output jack.

give us the update if it works.

Although... the instruction on EMG website for two vol pots and two tone pots is that you need to use the B245 Pickup Buss and it needs a selector switch.

but then there's also instruction on the B157 Pickup Buss (which seems to have the same function as the B245 Buss) that you can use the Pickup Buss without a selector switch by using jumper wires on the green switch block of the Buss, connecting its BR terminal to O terminal and NK terminal to O terminal.
