    Hi guys

I'm interested in putting the EMG GZR P pickup into my PJ bass
    The current setup wiring is
Master Volume/Tone and a Selector switch I'm very happy with this system BUT

EMG comes with "solderless installation". I just want to swap out the P pickup without messing with the current wiring. so my question is :

Is it possible to just install the EMG P Pickup in a traditional way (Soldering)?

Ps. Off topic question. What do you guys think compare EMG GZR P to G&L L-100 stock pup?

    Hi,
that's possible for sure. Use the EMG wires on the EMG pickup side, then cut the other side (pot conection) and use mini electric clamps to the already soldered potentiometer. Much better if try to get a "male-to-bare" cable. This way you avoid to "destroy" you EMG wire for future uses... Just in case.

I use those little clamps as the one in the middle of the photo, about 1cm long, to quick change pickups on my basses. It's a matter of get them one side screwed to the pot wires and the other to the pickup wires. No tone lost or any other issue. It's the low-budget/dirty version of the EMG system :)

Awesome! So i can just cut the other end of the wire to take the connector off? I don't mind ruining the "Emg wire" a lil cuz i plan to keep it in there. Thank you so much for your input

That's it. Just peel off one side and either solder wires to the pot or use the electric clamp ala EMG. I think it's the less aggresive approach.
