EMG HB replacements

hello, I have 2x emg HBs hooked up to a BTC preamp, individual stacked cut and boost for each pickup, pickup selector and 2x vol knobs... wayyyy to much for me.

Im either after staying active but only with the boost option, or going back to passive.

I find with so many knobs its to complex and I cannot see, to get a sound I like out of these emgs, I used to own a squire vm jag p/j with an active circuit and just the boost... it puts these EMGS to absolute shame in the sound department for me...

Granted I should have tried some EMGS before having them on a custom but its time to rectify...

Any suggestions ;)

I don't really know why to be honest, I was excited about getting a custom, and just wanted it all!

I asked for each pickup to have bass and treble cut/boost etc, I explained the tone I wanted and he suggested the HBs etc, explained they were custom wound special order and I was like YES get me those..

Totally my fault really, EMGS are not for me, wether its just the HBs I don't know but I just cant find a tone I really like because there are to many knobs!

mmm they look good!

Are they single coil in HB casing and would they drop straight in?

Also would I need a preamp with these, I have an EMG BTC at the mo but would literally only want, Vol Tone Boost, or Vol Vol bass treble mid BOOST only, or should I just go the passive route?

He can put whatever you want in there, as long as it fits in the case. You can run them passive, so no need for a preamp.
