emg pickups

I had a local luthier make me a precision in the mid nineties .its fitted with an emg pj set of pickups. im considering changing these out to maybe a fralin set or seymour duncans.on the other hand is it worthwhile fitting the emg btc tone controls instead.would the btc fatten the sound up at all as to me the pickups seem to lack depth now.cheers

Do you know which EMG PJ set the luthier put on?

Thanks for the replies.ill have a look at the dimarzios. Im not sure what model emgs were fitted.its a pj set.ive just about worn away the pickup covers now.ive recently changed my amp to a fender100t and the emgs sound a bit thin and lifeless when compared to my 75 jazz.im also considering a 51 style precision build with maybe a tv jones pickup.any thoughts.?.cheers
