EMG preamp compatible with Seymour Duncan Blackouts?

I recently bought a new bass on ebay and I believe (can't remember of the top of my head) it has an EMG BQC preamp with EMG35s. EMGs are NOT my cup of tea and I was wondering if the Seymour Duncan Blackouts will work with the EMG preamp. Now I know the BQC controls work with most pickups but the complete preamp says its for EMG pups only . Unfortunatly I don't know if it's the control or the entire preamp in the bass so as far as this post goes let's say it's the EMG only setup. I would assume it would work since both pups are active but I would hate to put the ass in assume.

If by "complete preamp" you mean "BQC System" (vs. "BQC control"), it comes with a 25k (passive) volume control(s) and/or blend control, and that's what makes it "EMG only" (which you can read as "low impedance only").

Depending on what pot value the PU's require, and how things are wired, you might need to replace the blend, and also the volume(s) if before the BQC.

The blackout pots are 25k like emg and most all active pups. I'll double check now while I'm thinking about it. I've replaced all my guitars EMGs with blackouts and they crossover just fine with emg passive electronics but I've never had a preamp to deal with. I'm guessing it'll work with no problem but I suppose I'll talk to my luthier and ask him now that the bass is in my hands.

The bqc can be used for active pickups, right? What if I wanted to install Basslines Pro-Active pickups?

I used to use an EMG BTC with my own active low Z pickups. It works fine, and will work with the Blackouts.
