EMG PX installation??

Hey there,

Just bought a new set of emg px's and I have a couple questions.

1. Do I need to connect the 2 earths that go to the bridge and the one screwed into the body to any thing? If so where do I connect them to the buss?

2. There is a buss thing connected to a little chip board do I need to use it or is that just for other stuff you might add on later?

The bass I am installing it in is a Fender Mexican std P-bass. Thanks in advance.

1. No you don't. EMG actives don't require any grounding whatsoever.

2. That buss is for hooking up switches that you might have installed, and isn't needed in a simple 2-knob setup.

Thanks so much Jimmy so glad now I don't have to pay to take it in to a store :) plus there's such a sentiment to customising your own guitar and bonding with it. I am up to the nerve racking point of chiselling out room in the wiring cavity for a battery. Anyway thanks so much.

It's not a good idea to leave shielding ungrounded. It has the opposite effect, when it isn't grounded.
But EMG actives don't need it, and I've never run across an issue with any of my shielded basses. You may be right on a technical level, but I've not seen it make any difference in practical usage. My 09 Precision with the Geezer Butler passive P isn't grounded to the shielding and it's dead quiet.
