Eminence Kappa 3015 or 3015LF?

I put 3015's in my (Mesa/TL-606 inspired) 2x15, and it made me sterile.

All the great ones suffer for their art...

Increasing the Mesa/TL606 ports from 3+ inches deep to 9 inches will work wonders with the 3015.

I'm having 3 EV 15s, and 2 EV 12s re-coned, not including shipping, it's almost $400!!! That's using EV's kits too.

When I dropped them off, I bought a 3015 to try... When modeled in the TL cabinets, my ancient Carvin 1x15 (with 2nd port added), and my Vox T-100 cabinet, these 3015s are beautiful!

I've been using the BassLite C2515s in my TL cabinets and really like them as well. But they only produce frequencies up to 2.5K hz, and the 3015 goes up to 4k hz. I'll be testing it in my 1x15 cabs this week...

I think it sounds great teamed with the 400+
It is pretty heavy for a 115 enclosure, and if it needs reconed I may need convincing that I would instead need to buy the 3015?
Has anyone tried this speaker in this configuration?
How closely can it match that smooth grind the EV replicates?

Mesa cabinets (AFAIK) are TL606s... Just like this one:

I've been using mine with the 3015 this past week... NICE!

I also misquoted my older Eminence Neo speakers earlier... They are all actually the original DeltaLites (12s and 15s). Same specs as the DeltaLite IIs, but with greater XMAX and power handling... And with less power needs, a viable alternative to the 3015s (so I'm told).

All fifteens should be used with a mid driver, unless you don't care about mids. The 3015 goes higher than the 3015LF on-axis, but off-axis neither does squat above 1.5kHz, as is the case with all fifteens.
That said, a pair of 3015 will take 700 watts before farting out, have higher sensitivity and go as low as anyone needs them to. I'd only use the 3015LF when you're running only one of them and need to have the added excursion capacity.

Per your info I choose the 3015lf for a full range cab with no tweater. The top end sounds fine, just like any other 15 off axis, but now it has more bottom than any other 15 I have played. I could still hear string noise and clack with my tone all the way up, so it has more than enough top for me. I usually play with the tone nearly all the way down.

I am useing a GK Backline-II 115 cab, which is about 4 cubic feet and ported. I used a c2515 for a gig and it performed well with my Backline 600 head, but I could get it to fart if it I gave it every thing the amp had. So I tried the 3015lf.

The C2515 is louder with that head, because at 8 ohms it's 180watts and at 4ohms its 300. Because of the farting issue I can get about the same max low end volume out of the 3015lf as the c2515(with the GK BK600). If I pull the lows back I can get more volume out of the c2515 in mid range.

I avoided the 8 ohm versions so I could use my little backline 600, but now I want the MB500 or IPR1600 to make full use of the speaker. For the Backline 600 or any other small amp the the C2515 would be hard to beat.

Two of these 3015lf cabs would beat my best 810 in low end it seems, and be easier to carry. The cab only weighs about 60lbs now. Eventually I should build a couple of fearful 115's out of 1/2" plywood, to get the weight down really low.
