I’ve recently started playing with the local orchestra and the other bassists play sitting down. I’ve always stood and this is a change. However, I have to say I like it quite a bit.
I watched one of @Chris Fitzgerald videos showing various styles and I’ve gone the way of the shorter stool. It’s what the others use as well.
The 1st chair has a short metal pin in the Rabbath position. Actually, it appears to be installed at the rear of bottom of the the bass. Pointing back toward the floor at a 45 degree-ish angle. Since I have a more traditional pin, I’d like to replace it.
So, long way around the block, but does anyone know what type of endpin that may be? All of the Rabbath style pins I’ve found are posts or sticks. As expected. I have reached out to get a photo and I’ve talked to the local luthier about what it might be. No real answers yet.
Thanks in advance for any info you may be able to provide.
