Envelope Filter Uses

I most frequently use my filters int he following ways:

1. Turn the resonance of and frequency down for deep reggae tones (standard xerograph)
2. Turn settings to a more typical autowah sound for walking bass lines (wonderlove)
3. Run an OC2 and TFR fuzz before and control with an expression pedal for synth sweeps (xero)

I've sometimes used one for "build up" type parts in songs. Start with soft dynamics so you get a low, washy sound, then increase the strength of your attack gradually so that the filter opens up and your notes become more articulate and aggressive. Works well in an electronic rock type setting.

Moogerfooger lowpass filter for wah, synthy stuff, drive, dub, some unconventional stuff. Can plug the expression pedal in 4 different parameters and can also feed other pedals like drive or trem etc into it to further mangle the sound.. Lots of diff possibilities.

In my sig is a track with an Octave> modded Bassballs on the bass line from start to finish (except the intro). I got the low filter set to trigger, but not get too resonant, and the high filter to not trigger at all. This gives it a subtle bass boost that tails off when I let the notes sustain.

I've played around with putting tremolo pedal before my AF at a medium speed and play big whole notes. You get a "bow bow bow bow" sound that sounds sort of like a Zvex Seek Wah. You can play rhythmically and use each trem peak like a quarter note to make it sound like a kind of synth sequencer

I did something similar to this with some heavy distortion and reverb in the signal chain to create a prop in water sound (at least this is what I was going for) for this noise track. Certainly not a very musical application, but perhaps you can hear something in it.
