What's your take on the Allen Woody Epi Rumblekat? What, if anything, does it resemble tone-wise. It physically resembles a Club Bass, but on steroids. Thanks y'all!

Epi Rumblekat?

As you can see from my avatar I own one. I like it in certain situations. When I was in a country band I used it with TI flats and it was perfect. I've also used it occcasionally in a rock band with rounds, but it isn't the best choice for that. The neck pickup is FAT sounding, but not really muddy like an EB mudbucker. The back pickup (can't call it a bridge pickup since it is in the middle position) sounds similar to a P when soloed, mainly because of it's location. I usually keep the back pickup on 10, then dial up the neck pickup until it sounds the way I like it, typically around 3.
I think it does sound similar to a Club bass. Put some flats on it and it can get the McCartney sound.
It is a nice bass for situations that call for that kind of sound, but for me right now in a hard rock band it isn't a good all around bass.

Thanks Showdown. The jury is still out...I've got the Hofner/Mac thing covered. It's funny, but thanks to my Greco copy I am now real turned on to the whole short scale thing. What a blast! I wish I could get my hands on one of these.
