EPI Thunderbird and new Hip-shot 3 point bridge (Intonation Issue)

Hey Good folk,

I had just installed new Hip-shot bridge on my Epiphone Thunderbird.
Went in - no issues like a glove. I did re-use older strings, which i had on that bass for a while.

So everything is pretty cool and sounds decent, except E string.
The string itself sounds very dull and lifeless (other 3 strings sound still bright and colorful), and this could be due to being old. But the major issue is - intonation is still sharp on 12th fret (E), and saddle on the bridge will not move away from pickups anymore, spring is fully compressed.

Any one experienced stuff like this? Could this be a string?

The old string might have something to do with it, but you also might try taking the intonation spring out (and saving it, obviously), or just cutting it shorter, should let you adjust the saddle further back. I've had to do that on a couple of basses to get them to intonate properly.
