EPIFANI 502: PROBLEMS

Hello.

I bought my Epifani 502 amplifier used from a shop in London earlier this year. I've had some problems with it which hopefully have been rectified by going back for repair twice, but I have a question regarding a couple of things which I can't seem to get a straight answer about from the people who should know.

I bought a used Epifani footswitch to control the muting and channel select features of the amplifier. I noticed that when I pressed mute on the pedal, the DI output isn't muted, so when I tune up the signal still goes to the front of house desk.

I was told by an engineer that I have to use the pre/post switch for the DI on the correct setting for the DI to mute (can't remember which one he said now). I tried the DI output with a both settings and it STILL won't mute the output to the DI when I mute the amp.

Can anyone help me with this? Anyone had similar experiences with this amp? It's driving me mad that a professional and incredibly hyped amplifier cannot provide the functions it should be.

Steve

have you contacted Epi about this?

If you put the DI on the post setting, it seems that the mute should affect the DI signal; that's the way it is on many amps but I don't know about the Epi in particular.

This is exactly how it works on my 502

Actually, I have a different problem. When I press the mute on my amp, sometimes I can still hear a very faint signal coming out of my speakers. It isn't enough to really bother me, as I'm talking really, really faint, but it's there. I too wonder sometimes why issues like this are even existant on an amp of this stature. I'd be more angry, but the thing sounds so darn good...:D

Thanks for the input guys.

Yes, contacted Epifani a while ago and they said there's nothing that can be done about my DI.

I have tried pre and post settings and STILL I get a signal out of my DI! No muting.

I also have the thing where I get a very low level signal even when the amp is muted. Not a problem in use but, still shouldn't be so.

No gear is perfect (although my backup Markbass Little Mark II has been SUPERB so far... to good to use as a backup!) but you'd think a problem like this could be addressed by those who are in the know.

My 502 does the same as yours! My 502 is one of first made and maybe that has to something to do with it. What is the serial number on yours!

I borrow the LMII on a gig and that's a nice head but I really prefer the Epifani.. But great backup

Yes, mine is an earlier one I think. I don't have the serial to hand right now but I now it was one of the models made before the DI modification was brought in.
