I gig on upright and electric bass but upright tone takes priority.
I bought an aguilar tone hammer with 2 of the sl112 cabs but I'm not really digging the sound anymore. Not enough presence in the mix with a band. Now I have a markbass500 head, which helped get me closer to the sound i want ( fuller warmer) but I think I want a more present and natural clear sounding cabinet then the sl's.
I use a bacchus craft series 5 string and a Juzek upright bass with a full circle pickup.
I play small venues drumless, to medium sized theatres with big band. usually jazz, sometimes cover bands soul\rnb\funk. My budget for cabinets is what I can sell my aguilar gear for so I'll say around 1500$... I would prefer to use my current head, the markbas s f500
I think I've narrowed it down to Epifan i UL series 1 or 2 cabs,
Or Phil Jones c4\c8, or 27\47... My upright tone comes first and I've heard great thinks about the pj stuff but I'm worried they will lack some bottom end and presence when I need to gig electric. my other dilemma is which sizes to get. Would it be weird to combine an epifan 112 and a PJ C4... With a markbass head? anyone have experience with either? The cab I'm most interested in doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere, the ul110 so any leads would be appreciated.
