Epiphone EB-3 pick up rattle

Hi!

I have a Epiphone EB-3 with all the original hardware on, plays great. But when I hit a string relatively hard, the neck humbucker starts to rattle, you especially hear it when you record with it. I think the pick up cover hits the big magnets inside the pick up? I tried lowering the poles in the middle but to no avail.

Let me know if you had/have a similar problem, would be very appreciated :)

It’s possible. It could also be a broken ceramic magnet. I would remove the pickup by unscrewing the ring and have a look. Look at the magnets for cracks. Gently try to move the coil to see if it’s loose in the cover. Look at the gap between the cover and coil edges. If the gap is the cause, squirt some silicone in there to keep it from rattling.
