hi everyone,
i hope this is in the right forum! i've been playing bass for a while now on my dad's gibson bass from the late 70s which i love but i'm kinda scared taking it out to gigs as it's valuable. so, i am considering getting either the epiphone les paul special bass or some sort of fender squier. the epiphone les paul appeals more because it's got humbuckers and looks very similar to my dad's gibson in a lot of ways. (i know that's a stupid thing to pick up on but i really don't like the feel of bass guitars without humbuckers). also, it looks more robust or something. (i quite like axe-like basses). anyway, i have never bought a bass before and know very little about them spec-wise (as this post is probably demonstrating!) so i would really appreciate any advice. have any of you used these basses and which would you recommend more? pros/cons of either of them? thank you very much!
