eq pedal?

I need something to boost my tone a little. In most songs my band plays I switch between fingers and slapping quite a bit, and if I get my tone set up for a nice, thick bassline, it doesn't have nearly enough treble for slapping. I need something to give me some highs. I was thinking an EQ pedal, like a MXR 6 band, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I really liked the MXR M-108 10-band. The only drawback is that it needs its own power supply. I haven't tried the Source Audio yet, though.

Super pricey, but I have been using the Empress ParaEq and it has really helped my tone. I was able to dial out a horrible rumble that would overpower the band room. That with some other tweaks and note just seemed to "pop" out.

For simple and cheap, go with the 3-band S-D Paranormal, which has a slap contour switch. They can be had for cheap on eBay and they are well made.

Is it very subtle? I've never used an eq pedal, and on the videos I watched I couldn't really tell what it was doing.

It isn't subtle at all. If you twiddle one of the knobs while playing you can hear that frequency changing. Try one out.
