EQ question!

Hey guys,
I'm not really very gear savvy so I would appreciate some advice! I've been wanting to get an eq and I had an idea, but am not sure if it'll work. I have a GK Backline600, and I have a 2x15 cab and a 4x10 cab. I would like to get a stereo rackmount eq (or something with 2 channels) and run 1 output from my amp to each channel on the eq then to the cabs. This way I can EQ my cabs differently. The thing is I'm really worried about running the amP's output signal through an EQ. A friend of minetold me that "it'll be fine" but I want to try and get your Guy's advice on this before I go spend money on an eQ and potentially make it explode.

You can't do this this way, you'll need to tap a line out of your backline600, feed the EQs and then feed two power amps or a stereo power amp to power the cabs. The EQs are line level, almost universally. The speaker outputs are not.

Don't use your speaker outs to go into a rack EQ. That could easily damage the EQ. Use the effects loop or the pre-out / power-in routing.

Just to clarify, if you connect the speaker outputs of your amp to the inputs of an EQ (or anything other than a cab, really), you will blow up the EQ.

You will need a 2-channel amplifier if you want to EQ your cabs seperately.

Been there, done that!! I got a nice puff of smoke from the EQ!! I also managed to do the same to a mixer !!

You’re powering a 215 and a 410 with that head?

I guessing the 215 is 4-ohms, and don’t know what the 410 is, but you may damage your amp doing that.

You shouldn’t run more than two 8-ohm cabs or one 4-ohm cab with that head.
